Until 2011, the West Coast was the only region in New Zealand that did not hold an annual business awards. Development West Coast together with our sponsors have held very successful inaugural “West Coast Leading Light Business Excellence Awards”.
This event offers an ideal opportunity to celebrate business excellence in our region and acknowledge the valuable contribution West Coast businesses are making to our local economy.

2015 BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARDS
The 2015 black tie gala event will be held on 8th May 2015 at the iconic tourist destination Shantytown. The MC for the evening is well known TVNZ News presenter, Peter Williams.
Master of Ceremony: Peter Williams, Newsreader, TVNZ
Peter has worked at TVNZ, since 1979. Peter started his broadcasting career as a teenager on Radio Otago, now More FM, in 1972. At TVNZ Williams has been a sports anchorman, commentator and reporter before joining the ONE News team full-time in his main role as Breakfast newsreader.
Guest Speaker: 2015 Professor Caroline Saunders,
Director or AERU (Lincoln University).
Caroline Saunders has 30 years research expertise in the UK and New Zealand. She has over 300 publications specialising on sustainable economic development. She has undertaken research for a wide range of private and public bodies both in NZ and overseas. These include the EU commission, DEFRA, FAO, OECD, MAF, MFAT, Treasury, MFE, MED, NZTE, Fonterra, MOT, Meat Industry and various other sector groups.
She was awarded economist of the year in 2007 and made an officer of the NZ order of merit in 2009.
