Ignite Lunch - Business Networking Event
Featuring Warrick Cleine
CEO – KPMG in Vietnam and Cambodia
From Westport to Asia: Driving Economic and Social Prosperity
Warrick Cleine grew up in Westport of the 1970’s and 1980’s, studied at Buller High, and returned to kick off his professional career with Frank Dooley after graduation from the University of Canterbury.
Warrick’s post-Westport career has been with the global professional services firm, KPMG, which took him to Wellington and then on to the “tiger economy” of Vietnam, where he has lived and worked for the past 20 years. He now serves as the Chairman and CEO of KPMG in Vietnam and Cambodia, a business he grew from 30 people to over 1,500 today. Warrick sits on KPMG’s Asia Pacific Board and Global Council, and is Chairman of the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam. He has just completed a six year term as KPMG’s Head of Tax for the Asia Pacific region, which employs over 6,000 people in 15 countries from China, across to Japan, and down to New Zealand.
On a flying visit to his home town, Warrick will share his personal business insights from his world of experience. He will discuss:
• How his life in Westport set him up for business in Asia;
• his belief in the power of business to drive economic and social progress; and
• why business leaders have an obligation to do good in society.
