The survey noted that many track users were on their first overnight tramp. Positives were the natural values and the quality of the track itself, while sandflies and lack of privacy in the huts were identified as negatives.  

The report contains some recommendations for the Karamea community to consider. One salient point is that Karamea can do more to promote its excellent half day and day walks to encourage visitors to stay longer.
