Together, the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers in Westland comprise the Region’s premier visitor attraction.  Visitor numbers are high and there are emerging issues around managing growth, safety, noise and waste.  Staff recruitment and retention is also a major concern. 

The Issues & Options report outlines how the local community views the current situation and explores the key issues arising from the growth.

The next step is to develop a Destination Management Plan (DMP) with wider input from the community and key stakeholders.
