E4E is an Education for Enterprise programme jointly funded by Development West Coast, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (via the Enterprise Culture and Skills Activities [ECSA] Fund) and supported by The Ministry of Education. E4E is offered to all West Coast schools and aims to foster the growth of enterprising skills and attributes in West Coast students.
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s ECSA Fund has operated since 2001 and has invested $9.2 million over five funding rounds, involving 67 projects. The goal is to improve the environment for enterprise and growth, and is aligned with the Ministry of Education principles of E4E from the Ministry of Education’s New Zealand curriculum.

The broad goals of the programme include:
- To support innovative and enterprising young people in our schools
- To promote the concept of lifelong learning
- To support teacher professional development in Education for Enterprise
- To improve access and equity in the delivery of education opportunities for the West Coast region
- To ensure that the West Coast education sector delivers high quality education and training relevant to the West Coast economic sector
- Establish a high level partnership with the education sector
- Act as a coordinator and facilitator of the education sector and industry needs
- To assist in raising educational standards on the West Coast
- To assist schools identify and implement specific enterprise projects
- To increase students awareness of regional career pathways and the employment opportunities available to them
- To engage business, communities and schools in enterprise activities which provide reciprocal benefits
