Development West Coast together with Canterbury Employers' Chamber of Commerce recently hosted two business networking events on the West Coast and participants at both functions were treated to an energetic, no nonsense opinion on the New Zealand and West Coast economy given by GANESH NANA, Chief Economist at Business and Economic Research Limited (BERL). The Networking Breakfast at the Solid Energy Centre in Westport also included addresses by Peter Townsend, Canterbury Employers Chamber of Commerce (CECC) and Rob Lawrence, a Technology and Marketing Development Consultant also based at CECC. This was followed by an after 5's function at the Ashley Hotel in Greymouth which resulted in a thought provoking discussion on how global downturn has affected trade and industry locally, nationally and internationally - and what we can expect in the future.
