Managing Resources

Essential Leadership Skills for Supervisors & Managers
This workshop on leadership will benefit participants that are planning to take on or are relatively new to the role of leadership. It could also be useful to a supervisor, team leader or manager seeding a fresh perspective to their leadership role.

Leadership is an attribute that is often shrouded in mystery and frequently people are placed in leadership roles when they have no idea what leaders truly do.

Modern leadership is moving away from the 'command and control' idea and the role has become more focused on how to unlock the power and potential of those around you. People want to be respected and valued, the great leader recognises this and is self aware enough to encourage and develop the strengths of others to achieve the goals of the organisation.
Topics cover in this workshop

  • The core requirements of Personal, Team and Task Leadership
  • Self-awareness and a positive approach to leadership
  • Methods of getting the best out of your team and those around them
  • Working practices to assist in becoming a greater leader
  • A self review of personal attributes and their current effectiveness
  • Understanding working relationships and reviewing which are working and those that are not
  • Learning to motivate and inspire teams in the face of challenges
  • Using a clear process for developing goals and aims that are directly related to the vision of the organisation and making them live for the team
  • Lead by example
  • Establish your current approach to inclusiveness
  • Exploring the impact of negativity and establishing methods of overcoming it
  • Ensuring the job gets done
  • Delegation - Distributing relevant work tasks in such a way that it is seen as motivational and effective

Finance

Who doesn't want more profit and cash? - Week of 10-14 May
Do you have a handle on what's going on financially in your business from a practical perspective? Would you like to leave a fun 3 hour workshop with a plan to improve your profit, cashflow and even give you more sleep at night? This workshop will not be a drone about financial ratios and what happened 2 years ago and may not matter now, it will be a commonsense look at some very simple things you can do to review your business that WILL make a positive difference to how it performs. Your Cashflow plan, and how you cost what you sell, i.e. your product costing and/or hourly rate are the three fundamentals of your business' cashflow management and profit control. John Roestenburg, small business advisor, accounting software consultant and former accountancy firm Business Manager will take you, step-by-step through worksheets that are crucial to the success of your business. You don't need to be a financial wizard for this one, bring your laptop so you can work through tasks there and then, or bring a sharp pencil for hard copy workings - either way you can take the worksheets away to use in your business on a regular basis. You can use your own financial data from your annual accounts or examples will be provided for you to work on.

This may be the best 3 hours you have spent on your business this decade.
